Ridgecrest Couple Help Ugandan Women Crochet Purses Out Of Plastic Bags

Daryl and Jennifer Silverberg of Ridgecrest California have led volunteers from Desert Christian Centre to Uganda to teach the women there to crochet purses out of plastic bags. There being no recycling procedure in Uganda this method of crocheting purses proved to be environmentally beneficial.
According to Robbi Galloway a volunteer, this method of turning plastic bags into purses not only saves the environment it also is a means of livelihood. The purses are being sold by the women of Uganda to tourists who come to the marketplace. In Uganda a single mother has to make ends meet throughout her life as she does not get the support of her husband to raise kids and take care of her.
Jennifer has got the support of other enthusiasts for her bags to purses project. Her team is also finding ways and means to utilise plastic bottles through a recycling program.
